Thanks for Riding Your Bike!

Oct 3-5 : Methow Valley Fall Bike Festival - Winthrop

Methow Valley Sport Trails Association
www.mvsta.com
This annual event features biking opportunities for everybody: cross country mountain bike races, supported road rides of 35, 70, or 100 miles through some of North Central Washington’s most inviting scenery, and awesome mountain bike rides for different skill levels and ages. A kid's race, and a bike rodeo for riders ten years and under make this a wonderful family event.

Oct 4 : Manastash Metric Century/Half Century Tour - Ellensburg

Ellensburg Daily Record/United Way of Kittitas Country (Jim Baunsgard unitedway@elltel.net)
1371 Bettas Rd Cle Elum WA 98922
11, 33, 62 and 100 mile routes through rolling countryside in full autumn colors. Historic towns and full support. Coupons for cheap pizza the night before the ride.

Apparently this ride has been CANCELLED. Below is the information we obtained Sept 16th:

If you were considering riding the Manastash Century October 4th this year, you need to be aware that it's been (quietly) cancelled. After much frustration with unanswered emails and phone calls to the contact person, I was finally able to make phone contact with some folks in the administration dept. of United Way in Ellensburg. I was told that the director of the United Way in Ellensburg, who was the Manastash Century organizer, has resigned his position, is now on extended vacation, and unavailable. The ride is cancelled due to no one to take his place. Apparently the United Way does want to try to have it next year, however.

I asked the United Way to please change the website and "officially" let folks know the ride is off for this year. Unfortunately, the guy I talked to had no idea that there was a website for the ride, and that there has been no notification of cancellation sent around to cycle clubs. Hopefully, they'll do that. And soon! :-(
